Hi all!
Oh my god! I have so much news to share!
The Arnold's is 45 days, 10 hours and 20 minutes away! This means, I am just over 6 weeks away from competition...and I'm feeling great!
It's been a month since my last blog...sorry :( so i need to catch you up to speed.
Christmas during contest prep was different. I packed all of my own meals for the farm and brought my cooler with everything measured and weighed so that when we got to the farm all I had to worry about was having fun, relaxing and enjoying company. Brett had old plate weights and dumbbells from his highschool workout days, so I could get my workouts in with ease and innovation no problem!
After leaving the farm, we were off to visit my family in Maricopa, Arizona. There is an Anytime Fitness 5 minutes from my mom and dad's place so my training stayed on schedule and my mom and sister even joined me for some late night workouts!
As always, Brett and I like to keep life busy. We headed back to Regina just in time to prepare for our Grand Open for the new North Anytime Fitness! Yay, two locations now open!! I'm so happy to meet all of our new members. It is so awesome to hear that our gym is a place members enjoy to go and where they feel welcome. I'm so happy to hear that our members care about my progress and are excited to find out what is next and where my next competition is. I love being at the club and I love when I get that feeling back.
Last week I trained 5 mornings (Monday through Friday) with Kris Currie of CFCI. The workouts are amazing as you can attest to if you are in the gym with me at 8am. I am a grunter so, although it sounds like I am dying at times, I am feeling more alive than ever! :)
This weekend I met with Lyris. She took my measurements and body fat and made sure my progress is in line with when I plan to get on stage. I'm right on track! Check-mark! My posing and stage presence is where I really need to step up my game. What differentiates one great physique fromm the next is how you present it. I need to make sure that all of this hard work, dedication and preparation is not wasted by not being able to show it off on stage.
On Friday I received my official acceptance letter for the Arnold and Brett and I have just booked our flight and hotel. This makes it so real. This is really happening. I can't believe it!
Just when I thought things couldn't get any better, I found out my picture in the Inside Fitness - Hot and Fit 100 comes out this next week. I placed so well, but I'm not believing it until I have a copy in my hand. You will have to watch out for the issue and check it out. I'm so excited to get it, but must contain myself until it hits Regina. This was released by Glen Grant congratulating his models that made the prestigious list. Fantastic!
I remember buying the first edition of the IF100 and admiring all of the ladies. I'm not sure if it has hit me yet that I'm actually one of the ladies on this list.
So much to be thankful for, but I know that these accomplishments are now landmarks that I will strive to beat this year!
Signing off tonight with a big week of training ahead of me.
See you at the gym!
Holly Barker
